So this is my starting block. Its just tired and well ridden through many british winters.
Plenty of corrosion. So I guess the plan is take off all the bodywork.
Drop the swingarm out. Drop the forks and yolks out. Drop the engine out. Strip the loom out.
Put the engine on a work stand.
Then decide what Im going to next. Finances will dictate what order some of it gets done in.

Ive just finished rebuilding Yamaha that belonged to Josh that got stolen and trashed, so now its time to get the Speed Triple out of its shed

Lets have a closer look at how well its aged

This is your home now...

Paint bubbling. I dont even know why this is happening. Its a nylon tank so its not corrosion.

This is what most of the frame and swingarm look like

Corrosion bubbles or peeling and flaking

Engine cases corrosion

More under paint corrosion

This is on the front of the engine. All the paint is coming off in huge flakes

Rusty downpipes and horn

Faark... there is an exhaust stud waiting to snap if Ive ever seen one

And the rest too

Headlight stonechips

Body panels dont clip together properly any more

Chrome headlights are just...

Upper fork legs

Rear spring

ANother angle of the rusty downpipes

This is an invention I made to resolve the fucked up speedo drive. There are 4 magnets in the centres of the floating disc connectors which move past the black Hall sensor you can see

The Hall sensor is held in place with a real good looking aluminum bracket made from a section from a double glazing window I cut to shape and bolted together.
Then I cut into the wiring loom and connected the hall sensor to the cables that fed the speedometer and the milometer.
It works and its pretty accurate too.
But although its functional, it does look a bit shit...
But no one ever noticed it.
